Head Chef Will Crawford has launched a delicious new menu at Bar Bistro, Down Royal Park Golf Course. In additional to family favourites and seasonal dishes, he has also introduced a "Roast of The Day" served Tuesday - Saturday with potatoes and seasonal vegetables. It's the perfect winter dish for you to enjoy.
Also available is our "Sizzling Steak Platter" for Two priced at £30. This includes two sirloin steaks, sauce and sides and is served all day Tuesday - Saturday! Our first ever gourmet evening of Summer Seafood and Wine Sampling on Saturday 27 May 2017 with Head Chef Will Crawford was a huge success with a fully booked restaurant. Chef Will served a fabulous four course meal with a selection of our finest wines to compliment the array of ocean fresh seafoods. Head Chef Will Crawford has recently joined the team at Bar Bistro, Down Royal Park Golf Course. Having worked as a Chef for over 20 years, he is passionate about creating culinary dishes and introducing new foods and flavours.
Having trained at Belfast Institute of Further Education, Will has worked in numerous hotels and met his mentor Laurent De La Torre in 1999 spending the next four years cooking at prestigious events including a parliament dinner with guest American President Bill Clinton, hosting a dinner for The Eagles as well as Michael Flatley of River Dance and Lord of the Dance.
Laurent De La Torre saw the potential in Will as he was took over the reigns as Head Chef. He then proceeded to Piper's Quay for a year as a Head Chef before moving to the Ivory Restaurant Moira where his career dramatically took off.
2006 was an award winning year for Will as he came 4th in the IFEX Chef of the Year Competition, a major achievement combined with many other awards including 2nd place in the IFEX Province Lamb Dish Competition where he reached the finals in the Restaurant of The Year Taste of Ulster Competition.
Having met American Actor Brendan Frazer, Will's cooking diversified with an Italian fusion incorporated into traditional Irish dishes. This culinary fusion was enjoyed by many at Angelo's Italian Restaurant in Northern Ireland. Following five years at Head Chef position in Alfredo's On The Square, Lisburn, Will is tempting our taste buds at Bar Bistro, Down Royal Park Golf Course with an exciting menu and weekly specials.
While Will has catered for celebrities, movie starts, global entertainers and presidents, outside of work he has a love for all things paranormal! While we're hoping there's no spooky encounters at Down Royal, it's amazing to listen to his stories about Crumlin Road Gaol as well as his meeting with Barry Fitzgerald, former Lead of Ghost Hunters International TV show. Whilst on set, Will had the amazing opportunity to be Head Chef for the complete duration of the Ghost Hunters tour in Ireland.
